One-day workshops are an ideal way of learning the basics of TTouch so that you can then go and use it with your own animals. Workshops are limited to a maximum of 20 participants (not all with dogs) depending on venue and type of workshop. The emphasis in a workshop is on hands-on learning in an informal and fun environment. You will have the opportunity to practice with other people and with your own or others’ dogs, so that you will gain practical skills to be able to take away with you.
workshop
We offer the following workshops:
  • Introduction to TTouch for Dogs: Focusing particularly on observation of tension patterns and learning TTouch bodywork, with a brief introduction to other areas of TTouch (groundwork and wraps).
  • Groundwork for Dogs: Focusing on the use of groundwork, particularly for reactive dogs, with a brief review of bodywork and wraps. (Suitable as follow on to Introduction but limited to 10 dogs, up to 20 people)
  • Addressing Common Canine Challenges: including, for example, noise and firework sensitivity, touch sensitivity, pulling on the lead, fearfulness, excitability. Limited to 10 participants as focuses on how to use TTouch to address specific issues of interest to people attending.
  • TTouch for Show Dogs: Covers ttouches, groundwork and wraps most useful for issues like preparation for handling, gait issues, and anxiety in the ring.
  • TTouch for Puppies (half day): Shows how TTouch can be used to help puppies develop into healthy, well adjusted, sociable adults.
  • TTouch for Older Dogs (half day): Shows how TTouch can be used to provide support for older dogs, particularly maintaining mobility and gently aiding relaxation.
  • Coping with Fireworks: Focuses on the use of TTouch and wraps to address the particular issue of noise sensitivity to fireworks and thunderstorms.
Note: Workshops are intended for active participation. Attendees are encouraged to bring a dog but it is possible to participate fully without a dog. Workshops are limited to a maximum of 20 participants. Dogs attending must be able to spend some part of the day in the car and should not be too stressed to be in the company of people and (to some extent) other dogs. Dogs can be worked separately and some work may take place outside (weather and venue permitting) but it may still be too much for very reactive or anxious dogs. In such cases, owners are encouraged to come without their dog and then work afterwards on their dog at home.

Janet is available by arrangement to run these TTouch workshops anywhere in the North of England so if you would like to host one close to you, please
get in touch. A new programme of workshops in the Leeds/York/Harrogate area is being arranged for Autumn 2010 and details will be posted here in due course. If you are in one of these areas and are interested in a particular workshop please let me know and I will endeavour to provide it. If you are looking for a workshop in spring/summer 2010, other local TTouch practitioners may be running them - you can find a list of practitioners on my Links page.
